After a long fought battle State Senator Paul Koering of district 12 was endorsed as the republican candidate. Senator Koering was forced to come out last session and admit he was gay as the Senate considered an amendment to ban gay marriage. Senate minority leader Dick Day was there to support Sen. Koering.
