Sharon to survive but unlikely to return to public office; absence could destabilize peace process in Middle East

Doctors say Ariel Sharon is likely to survive a massive stroke but is unlikely to return to serve as Prime Minister of Israel. The Deputy PM is now the acting PM as power was transferred after Sharon was admitted in the hospital.
Many world leaders are concerned about the prospects of peace with Sharon's sudden exit from Israeli politics. Some say that Sharons moderate approach and stature within Israel makes him very difficult to replace. Israel will be holding elections soon for PM.
