After much wrangling the Iraqi National Assembly approved the Iraqi Constitution just days before the Iraqi people were set to vote. The concern was that if the constitution was not approved the Sunnis would boycott the vote putting the country into further uncertainty. The Sunnis were concerned that the Shiites who are the majority were given too much power. This approval makes it more likely that the Iraqi people will approve the constitution as well.
