NARAL announced that it will be pulling an ad that they were running against John Roberts who is President Bush's nominee for the Supreme Court. NARAL had accused Roberts of condoning violence by the pro-life group Operation Rescue. Roberts had however argued on behalf of the federal goverment that the 1871 statutue did not apply in this case and that it should be tried in state court because it did not have federal standing. This basically means that there had to have been a federal violation which Roberts argued there was not. NARAL's Communications Director has resigned. It is not known if the resignation was a result of the ad. Even some NARAL supporters believed that the ad was false.
