Pawlenty says no to PETA

After PETA asked that fishermen be prohibited from fishing walleye, Governor Pawlenty went to a restaurant in St. Paul specifically to protest this request by eating walleye. He said that the idea of not allowing fishermen to fish walleyes in Minnesota was ridiculous. PETA's rhetoric often does not match with reality or the facts.

Good for T-Pawl. I love this blog and how you handle Dissenters!

Shouldn't you have said fisherpeople? Many women enjoy this activity, too. However, PETA is right. Fish can feel pain. It is a horribly barbaric practice to kill fish for "sport," particularly in such a cruel way. Can you imagine how paiful it would be to have a somewhat sharpened instrument shoved through your mouth, then left to drown? How cruel.

I think most people knew what I meant. I realize we are in the post modern era. I will just have to disagree with you on the rest of your comments about fish. I am very careful to use language that is not offensive but I wont be the pc police.

Why is it ok to murder animals?

Many families in rural areas eat the meat that they kill so there is a purpose to killing animals. Besides there are already laws to protect animals from torture. Animals kill other animals as a part of the circle of life. If we didnt kill some of them they would become overpopulated then we would have to shoot them anyways.

God told man to protect the animals, if you believe the Bible. If you believe in evolution, animals were here well before man and managed to live happily without human intervention. We are the invaders here.
