Secretary of State Rice visited her home state of Alabama as part of an effort to assess damage and determine how the State Department will distribute the foreign aid pledged by nations around the world for the United States. More than 60 nations have pledged to assist in the disaster by a variety of means such as money, specialized expertise, etc.
